In some rare cases leg pain is cause by sciatic nerve pain, osteoma, malignant bone tumors and poor blood flow in the hip that may hinder the normal growth of the leg.

As for hip pain, it can be cause by hip fracture. Hip fracture is common occurrence especially for people who are advance in age since bones are becoming less dense. In fact people who are affected with osteoporosis can get injured simply by doing their everyday task.

Individuals who have hip fracture have changed their quality of life since just a few of them have resumed their normal way of life. Aside from that, hip fracture can cause complications that can be life threatening. Complications like Pneumonia and even blood clot in the leg can occur. This blood clot can break out and can travel through various organs of the body and can cause clot specifically in the lungs, this is due to limit movement following a hip surgery or fracture. Other possible cause of hip pain includes arthritis, osteonecrosis, Bursitis, Tendinitis, Strain or sprain, Infection and low back.

However the most common cause of both hip and leg pain today is arthritis. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) published an article where it states that Arthritis burdens the population of the United States since it is the leading cause of disability and women are more severely affected with joint pain, psychological distress and limitation in activity (J Womens Health-Larchmt 2007).
