Back pain is a common complaint for most people these days. A lot of back conditions can cause back pain. Fortunately for some back pain is just a result of bad posture and can be easily remedied. For most people, back pain is a result from poor posture. Sitting for a long time or improper position while sleeping can lead to back pain. Associated Press has reported that a new research came up showing that a firm mattress is not really the best for the back. It has been a popular belief and even doctors traditionally suggest firm mattress for people who suffers from lower back pain. Now study showed that people who tried to sleep on medium mattresses reports to have great improvement rather than those who use firm ones.
The results from the studies gives doctors the confidence to recommend or suggest the use of medium firmness mattress rather than the firm mattress suggested before for patients who are suffering from severe lower back pain.
The director of Sports Rehabilitation of Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine at New York University Medical Center do commented that the result of the study really makes sense. He comments further that there is really need of equal distribution of pressure. He said that too firm mattress is no good for it does not bring adequate form to the body and too soft a mattress is no good either for it is going to bend and cause more problems. Medium firm mattress is the best mattress for back pain.
