What Causes Inner Thigh Pain?

Inner thigh pain is mostly caused by groin strain, which is a common type of injury sustained by runners or people who participate in sports that involve a lot of running -- such as tennis, soccer, and many more. A groin injury can be serious or mild, it can be a slight strain of the muscles that are attached to the thigh bone or it can be a complete rupture. This kind of injury affects the abductor muscle inside the thigh resulting to inner thigh muscle pain.

Other causes of inner thigh pain are the tensing of the inner thigh muscle. When you overwork this muscle you will feel the pain. Runners are good example of this, they often feel pain after running on snow since it is slippery thus thy have to keep on tensing up their muscle to keep their balance. Overusing this muscle can result to groin pull or strain.

Symptoms of inner thigh pain are the following – mild pain and shows up only whenever an individual runs. But one can also feel the pain when moving sideways.

You can prevent inner thigh pain to happen by doing an adequate stretching before and after you run. Wearing the right shoes also helps a lot since it can give you a balance whenever you run or walk.

For women, they often experience inner thigh pain because of ischeal fracture. This ischeum is part of the pelvis and when this is injured it results to pain in the inner thigh. So women who have ischeal fracture often think they have groin strain. This is why inner thigh pain causes should be carefully assessed by an orthopedic.

So what does one do if they experience groin strain or pull? If you are running or doing something then stop and rest until the pain is gone. When the pain is gone then start doing some stretching exercise and strengthening exercise like inner thigh lifts for a week. After a week of stretching and exercise you can now go back to your old routine slowly like running every morning. But it is important that you take it slow and continue your stretching and exercise. Exercise is the best way to prevent pain in inner thigh.
