Most people do experience neck pain due to poor posture but for some people it might be a sign of a more serious health conditions. Listed below are some of the problems that might lead to neck pain.
Spine Problems. Neck pain is often cause by health problems that involves the spine. These conditions may include DDD or Degenerative Disc Disease, osteomyelitis –an infection of the spine, Spinal stenosis, cancer of the spine or herniated disc. This is according to the National Institute of Health.
Strained Muscles. If your work lets you spend a lot of time in front of the computer then you will most likely suffer from neck pain. Even long period of driving can cause strained muscles which often results to neck pain.
Fibromyalgia. This is one chronic condition that causes painful sensation not only in the neck but throughout the whole body most especially in the joints and muscles located at the back of the neck.
Injuries. Individuals who suffer car accidents do suffer neck pain. This condition they call whiplash. This usually occurs when the head is jerked backwards or forward which results to an injury in the soft tissue in the neck.
Joint and Nerve Problems. As one gets older, individuals starts to have worn joints in their neck which often leads to osteoporosis. This is a disease that weakens the bones thus resulting stiffness and pain. Neck pain is also a symptom of pinched nerve.
Treatment for neck pain varies. It depends on the cause of your neck pain thus it is important that you consult your doctor and do not take any medications without consulting your doctor. It is important that proper identification of the cause is done so that proper treatment will be given. Do not ignore your pain in the neck. Most people just think its strained muscles especially if the pains just come and go.
